Sandstorm bridges the gap between games like CoD and SQUAD.exactly where NWI said they wanted to be. Those aren't going anywhere and there are plenty of games proving that they can be great, in-depth and engaging experiences. It just seems like they weren't that excited about the port after the last delay as there was little marketing or hype other than what the community created.īeyond that, the game looks promising but I don't see it as evidence that games with smaller maps are better than large, open worlds. No one knew anything until they announced the closed beta a week or two before it started.they also didn't have an open beta like they said they would which is absolutely perplexing to me. I'm still not happy about NWI doing a 180 on their community engagement (they used to have open Q&As frequently), but if Sandstorm does well on console, maybe they will open open again. I had suspicions Sandstorm on console would become a money grab of sorts.then I go to play the beta and saw that the game was surprisingly well ported. It's not the delay that got me but their complete lack of any reason why and then the radio silence during and after the acquisition of their company by the Embracer group. I'm a little torn at this point as NWI left a bitter taste in my mouth after their last delay of the game at the eleventh hour. I'm looking forward to this Friday as that is when all my friends will be able to get together and we can really put the game through its paces. Sandbox shooters can offer more variety and content. I'm glad others are saying how big open worlds can be inferior to sandbox shooters. However it sounds like a great game and Kean one of our Ghost members here always praised that game so I figured it's good.
